Singers vs. Dancers

So far our time here has been super easy and laid back. They work on each show for 2 weeks. Right now we are rehearsing for the "Marquee" show. It's a Broadway revue show that showcases the great tunes that many are familiar with. Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing...Coat, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, Cabaret, Boy From Oz, and La Cage Aux Folles. The Marquee show is visually spectacular (we got to watch a DVD from last year's cast). Seriously, you guys, the product of this show looks a bit like Broadway. It's pretty fantastic! The stage has built in hydraulics, part of the stage raises and lowers. The orchestra also raises and lowers. The lights and sets are beautiful! However.... Whitney and I are NOT in this show:( We understudy the show, so if someone is sick we will go in. We've had the past 3 days off! It's crazy! It's strange to us that they aren't calling us for the rehearsals for this show. Even though we are understudying the show, we still need to learn it! I guess the companies plan is that when we get on the ship we'll just watch it over and over again and learn it on our own.
Also - we are hired as singers for this contract. There are 6 singers on the ship and 12 dancers. The dancers dance and the singers sing. That's it. Now we will dance some... meaning like some jazz squares and jazz hands, but overall we sing. Here is some inside information - dancers don't get paid as much as singers... they have been to every rehearsal so far and they have been working so hard! AND... non US citizens don't get paid during the rehearsal period at all!!!! So, for the 7 weeks that we are here, they don't get a penny! Can you believe that?? Whitney and I are sitting in our apartment in Hollywood, FL hanging out by the pool getting paid and the out of country dancers are working non stop not getting paid.... I'm confused!
Whitney and I are in this magic show on the ship called "Now You See It." We are the only 2 singers in this show and the magician is Drew Thomas. He was in America's Got Talent a few years ago. Apparently he is amazing! We sing "You Raise Me Up" as a duet in this show.
Here is a clip of him on AGT:
