We learned the show in one week, had tech rehearsals the second week, and then performed for 2 weekends. I was one of the 4 ensemble girls and we danced and sang and also got to make up some hilarious characters in each sketch. I haven't been this fulfilled in a theater gig, in a LONG time. What a blessing!
I was worried that my costumes were going to be very risque, considering the title of the show, and I was trying to eat mostly celery sticks until my costume fitting. (ha! j/k) But really...I'm not comfortable wearing bikini's even at the pool, much less dancing around on a stage in one. I was pleasantly surprised to see that all of my costumes were quite covering. This is 20's, 30's vaudeville Burlesque, not Christina Aguilera/Cher Burlesque. The women were not degraded in classic Burlesque shows, so our costumes complimented each scene. The costume designer and production staff made sure each of us felt very comfortable in all of our costumes - which was very very kind of them, not all production companies are that accommodating.
Below are some photos from my 3 weeks in IL!
Yay - I'm EMC
From Nathan:
Seeing Whitney perform in Baggy Pants Burlesque was incredible. She was of course the best one on the stage and every time she was on the stage, my face lit up!! Her cute blonde wig made me want her to cut her hair because she looked so awesome. But, I still really like her long locks. I was sooo proud of her and happy that she was able to perform again and in a great production. The humor of the show was sooo funny. I was so thrilled I got to see the show twice because there were too many jokes to get just by seeing it once.
While I was there - I snatched a quick video of the top of the second act of Whitney's duet. It's really bad quality and I apologize for the crookedness but I wasn't supposed to be taping so I had to do it discreetly.
Enjoy - it's adorable. This is "Pettin in the Park"
OH PS..... Angelina Ballerina is officially closed!!! Isn't that crazy?? While I was away at Sullivan, I got an email saying that they were closing, when I returned to New York I no longer had a performing gig in the city. Bitter sweet. I was with that show for a good 6 months. Can't say I'm going to miss it.

YAY!! I've been looking for a new post the whole time I was gone! LOVE IT!! Such a great wrap up of your show and I love seeing that Equity card!!
Oh, wonderful posting! So great to see the live performance, and after that to be reminded of what we saw in Alter Boyz. We had such a wonderful time seeing you! Yes, the bike ride, Whitney hadn't been on a bike since they put brakes on the handles! and on the Titanic museum tour, we were all handed a name card stating what class we were and at the end of the tour we found out if we lived or not. Nathan's persona did not! very sad!
Love...Mom/Beth
PS and the games...I lost and didn't even care! :)
