It's Hairspray

Hairspray officially opened last Friday and it went really well. Whitney and I were actually nervous to put this show up because there has been a lot of drama. We were all waiting for something drastic to occur during the performance because we had yet to perfect our show. This company isn't the best company we've worked for but it's still a job and we are extremely grateful for it!
Let's list the drama for you all so you can get an idea of what's been going down...

1. One of our lead actors, is a huge DIVA... he's been in a few Broadway shows and for some reason he expected a lot more out of this production so he complains all the time - he would argue with the creative team and ultimately direct other people on stage... let's just say - he was really hard to work with. But I guess we only have 2 more weeks with him because he quit. His last performance will be October 14. He said to me, "there aren't enough people in the audience for me to do my job!" WOW.

2. Our costumer was a NIGHTMARE! She by far is the laziest person I've ever met in the industry. She would ask the actors what they should wear... she had nothing prepared, she had no idea how to do anything! She didn't read the script or know the show. She was socially awkward. She actually had the audacity to ask the lead girl if she was going to gain weight to play Tracy?!?!?!? And then she explained that they do it all the time in Hollywood. We were all just stunned by her stupidity!

3. We didn't have all of our costumes / props / and the set wasn't finished until our opening preview. And in our preview we had about 30 people watching, so we were all crossing our fingers.

4. The sound and the lights aren't as great as they could be for a show like Hairspray.

OTHER THAN ALL OF THOSE THINGS - We've had a great time and the majority of the cast is great and fun to work with. Again, soo thankful we have each other to hold hands through this journey.
We love the town the theatre is in and we love the home we're staying in.
